Events

Events, similar to Attributes, are specific actions that customers take, such as attending a class, visiting your location, or purchasing a product. When you connect your CMS integration to Gleantap, the options for events should display on the main dashboard so you know what you can work with.

For example: Visits, Purchase, Partyguest, Party, and Memberships are all things that can be tracked in this account and use to create segments.

In order to add your own, first review this part of the dashboard to see what options you have.

Then, navigate to Configuration - Settings - Events and click on ‘New Event.’

Write the event in here (all lowercase) and click ‘Create’ to save.

Now, navigate to Audience - Segments and create a new segment using the ‘External Event’ you just created.

For this example, we will be using the ‘visit’ event. Simply select the event you want to use and then use the prompts to fill in the info. Below, we are setting up a segment for ‘Customers who visited more than 4 times in the last 30 days.’

This is an excellent way to capture specific actions and engage with your members based on their event history.

Event Attributes

However, you can get even more specific with Event Attributes.

Navigate back to Configuration - Settings - Events and scroll down to Event Attributes.

If you already know which attributes to add, you can go ahead and use ‘New Event Attribute’ to add them in (lowercase). If not, reach out to your customer success team for assistance.

Let’s use ‘Class’ as the event example.

By adding ‘class_name’ and ‘status,’ we can now define more than just when the class was taken, but what class was taken and whether or not the person showed up. (Just like with normal attributes, these will need to be generated)

Going back to segments, this is how you would create the described audience with external events and event attributes.

Class is in the last 30 days, class_name is barre blast, and status is ‘signedin.’

You can use both events and attributes to create these specific segments for highly targeted engagement.
